چکیده

Abstract A discrete-forcing immersed boundary method with permeable membranes is developed to investigate the effect of lubrication on permeations solute and solvent through membrane. The permeation models are incorporated into discretisation at fluid cells including membrane, discretised equations for pressure Poisson equation convection–diffusion represented discontinuities validity proposed established by convergence numerical results permeate fluxes (solute solvent) higher-order analytical in a lubrication-dominated flow field. Molecular dynamics of water transport through membranes: Water from solvent to solute

An application of Molecular Dynamics computer simulation (MD) to the process of transport of water through a lipid bilayer membrane is described. The permeation process is far too slow to be modeled by straightforward MD. In stead the inverse of the permeability coefficient is expressed as an integral over a local permeation resistance, which itself is inversely proportional both to the local d...

Selective Mass Transport of CO2 Containing Mixtures through Zeolite Membranes

In this work, the main aspects regarding the permeation of mixtures containing CO2 and permanent gases such as H2 , N2 and CH4 through zeolite membranes have been investigated, focusing on the description of the mass transport mechanisms taking place inside the pores. First, a brief overview about the performance of the main zeolite membranes used in gas separation (e.g. DDR, CHA, AEI, FAU, etc...

Progress and Perspective of Antifouling, Pressure Driven, Flat-Sheet Nanocomposite, Polymeric Membranes in Water Treatment

Membrane filtration, especially based on the size exclusion phenomenon, has long been established due to its abilities to addressing the growing demands of the clean water of the world’s population. However, widespread applications of the membranes face several challenges including chemical vulnerability, thermal deterioration, and biological degradation of the membranes that transpire while re...

Solute transport across a contact interface in deformable porous media.

A finite element formulation of neutral solute transport across a contact interface between deformable porous media is implemented and validated against analytical solutions. By reducing the integral statements of external virtual work on the two contacting surfaces into a single contact integral, the algorithm automatically enforces continuity of solute molar flux across the contact interface,...

Pressure-driven transport of particles through a converging-diverging microchannel.

Pressure-driven transport of particles through a symmetric converging-diverging microchannel is studied by solving a coupled nonlinear system, which is composed of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations using the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian finite-element technique. The predicted particle translation is in good agreement with existing experimental observations. The effects of pressure gra...
